CMEE is a multidisciplinary College of Engineering and College of Science Center under the purview of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, dedicated to developing next-generation semiconductors and electronic materials with an emphasis on performance in extreme environments, and workforce development to meet the semiconductor sector needs.
We leverage advanced simulation and modeling to innovate and optimize semiconductor materials and device design.

Position Overview
The Center for Microelectronics in Extreme Environments (https://cmee.unt.edu) at the University of North Texas (UNT) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the development of wide bandgap semiconductor thin films by microwave-assisted and metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Knowledge of physical vapor deposition (PVD) processes, physical electronics, and cleanroom experience is a strong plus. The candidate will perform research in advanced semiconductor material growth and determine correlations with structural, chemical, and electrical properties using methods such as XPS/UPS, XRD, SEM, Raman, I-V, C-V, etc. The candidate must be proficient with vacuum systems, perform routine maintenance, and mentor students. Working with the center’s faculty from the College of Engineering and the College of Science, you will summarize research findings in technical reports, lead scientific publications and conference presentations, and contribute to proposal writing.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Materials Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or closely related fields, and prior experience with CVD thin film growth and characterization.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Materials Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or closely related fields, hands-on experience with wide band gap semiconductors, dielectrics, and metal contacts by CVD and PVD, operating in clean room settings, and thin film characterization.
