Senior Supply Chain Subcontract Lead
This role is the primary point of contact responsible for the autonomous holistic end-to-end management of assigned suppliers focused on an 80/20 mindset driving success for the Moog Military Aircraft Organization.
The Senior Subcontract Lead will drive supplier performance (specific to inventory, quality, and delivery targets), build excellent collaborative supplier relationships, support factory needs and engage in contractual negotiations. This role affords the candidate an opportunity to take hold of the assigned scope and make a positive impact on the growing business.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for end-to-end surveillance, monitoring, managing and development of excellent supplier relationships to achieve business requirements.
Daily/weekly supplier management and conversion of demand signals into Compliant Purchase Orders, in accordance with contractual terms and conditions and in alignment with Moog systems and processes.
Responsible for coordination between Functional Areas Operations (Manufacturing, A&T, Planning) teams for alignment on buffer strategies, forecast validations and procurement methods.
Evaluation of supplier performance including the identification and mitigation of risks, driving problem-solving activities to resolve supplier performance issues and leads supplier recovery and improvement activity
Drives cross-functional root cause investigations and corrective actions to achieve continuous supplier improvement
Provides input, supports and leads supplier selection, negotiation and supplier development activities
Operate with urgency and be proactive when it comes to operational issues and ensure continuity of supply from assigned suppliers
Collaborate and effectively influence multiple functions, geographic regions, and cultures; to achieve global end-to-end supply chain performance requirements. This requires working with teams located in different time zones and being flexible with working hours, as required.
Required to effectively communicate both internally and externally with customers and suppliers
Occasional travel may be required to visit Moog sites or Suppliers. Approximately 25%.
Basic Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree, preferred in the fields of engineering, supply chain, or business
Greater than 5 years of progressive experience (usually post-education) in the field of manufacturing, engineering or supply chain (preferably Aerospace industry)
Excellent understanding of supplier relationship management and proven ability to cultivate and strengthen relationships
Excellent communication skills are required in the form of written, verbal, and presentation
Ability to effectively communicate, influence and lead cross-functional peers at different leadership levels
Excellent accountability and application of urgency via prioritization of tasks
Requires strong analytical and Lean/Six Sigma problem-solving abilities
Requires working knowledge of contractual requirements, business systems, and processes
Travel greater than 25% - regular business travel will be required to visit suppliers
Ability to relocate to the Western New York area required
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in purchasing, supply chain, program management
Experience in continuous improvement, manufacturing, engineering, or quality roles
Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement training
Good negotiating skills, combined with working knowledge of procurement processes
Knowledge of and experience in FAR/DFAR requirements in a DOD contracting environment
