Senior Accountant

This position is responsible for preparing accounting transactions and analyses as part of a centralized accounting team providing corporate and business unit level support. It includes analyses related to compliance matters, working with accounting data, and completing accounting related projects. This position also ensures financial records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. The position will be located at the Hearst Health business office in Charlotte, NC.
Prepares, maintains control, and is responsible for subsidiary accounting records involving a variety of transactions and accounts in high visibility division
· Record GL transactions for responsible areas and accounts after thorough understanding of topic and journal entries needed.
· Analyzes and reconciles accounting data utilizing a cloud-based Oracle ERP system and multiple subledgers to ensure accuracy of information & calculations.
· Maintain portion of the month-end close checklist and other project timelines to meet multiple accounting deadlines
· Collaborate with finance teams across business units to enhance standardization, ensure accuracy, and maintain timely recording of general ledger transactions.
· Prepare general ledger account analysis and reconciliations, ad hoc reports, and other supporting schedules utilizing Oracle ERP and distributing to key stakeholders
· Assist with requests from internal and external audit teams, ensuring successful and timely completion.
· Support the adoption and implementation of new accounting standards across business units
· Prepare detailed documentation of processes and procedures as well as key transactions being posted to the general ledger
· Be a champion of innovation and change within the local team and larger finance organization
· Utilize multiple accounting & reporting tools simultaneously to achieve goals
· Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
· 2+ years of accounting/finance experience at CPA firm or public corporation, Big 4 experience a plus
· CPA required
· Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail
· Ability to meet assigned deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment with a strong ability to multi-task and prioritize
· Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to uphold the integrity of accurate and timely financial reporting that meets all compliance requirements
· Ability to act and operate independently, with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish directives
· Experience with sophisticated accounting software applications, Oracle Cloud ERP a plus
