Job Description Summary
The Security Specialist will oversee and maintain the GE Aerospace Research patented keyway system to ensure security, compliance, and operational efficiency. This role encompasses the administration of automated dispensing equipment and programming, physical distribution and collection of keys, regulatory and compliance controls, procedure development, inventory management, procurement workflows, and adherence to departmental and regulatory policies. The Security Specialist will implement LEAN principles to safeguard personnel and assets while collaborating across functions and supervising team members responsible for key and core development. Accurate record-keeping to support compliance and operational goals is a critical aspect of this role.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Access Management:
- Administer the GE Aerospace Research key systems, including developing and editing policies for granting, revoking, auditing, and modifying key access.
- Maintain and track accurate records of all key-locked locations, key issuances, key returns, and access records.
- Develop processes to ensure site keyholders are informed and compliant with rules associated with key possession.
- Manage the One Research Circle Key Request Workflow authorization process.
- Align key software databases with site access restrictions, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory mandates.
System Monitoring and Maintenance:
- Continuously evaluate, update, and review databases for the One Research Circle Key Request Workflow, key management program, and Traka key security system, making adjustments as needed.
- Apply lean methodologies to optimize key distribution and collection processes.
- Create and maintain standard work documentation for key management processes to ensure consistency and adherence.
Policy Compliance:
- Validate adherence to GE Aerospace Research and GE Aerospace security policies and procedures.
- Conduct scheduled and randomized audits of keyholders, key inventories, key cabinets, key hardware, and key software to ensure compliance.
- Assist in developing, editing, and implementing key access policies for consistent and compliant application of key programs.
- Develop and deliver training sessions for employees on key access control protocols.
- Ensure all processes meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align key management processes with organizational goals.
- Work closely with GE Aerospace Research Security Management, area owners, locksmiths, electronic access control specialists, DT, and facilities teams to address key access-related needs.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to resolve access-related issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with 2 years of equivalent professional experience. Associate of Science from an accredited college or university, with 4 years of equivalent professional experience. Equivalent professional experience includes security, crisis management, military or law enforcement related field.
- Strong technical skills, including familiarity with access control software and hardware.
- Strong industrial security technical skills, including familiarity with access control software and hardware.
- Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to have the ability to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.
- Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.

The base pay range for this position is $69,500 - $104,200 USD Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on November 1st, 2025.
