Position Summary 

Metaphore Bio is actively seeking a talented and highly motivated scientist and leader to join the Preclinical Research and Development team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in defining and developing therapeutics leveraging Metaphore’s platform as well as leading programs from discovery through late preclinical development. The role requires significant experience in the metabolic/endocrine and inflammatory disease areas and a strong preference for experience in GPCR biology. with the ideal candidate will also have experience in the discovery and development of biologics. Demonstrated success in advancing programs both experimentally and as a strategic project leader and strong people leadership skills are required.   

Responsibilities 

• Lead and build Metabolic/endocrine focused research group at Metaphore Biotechnologies, setting the strategy and vision for the function in the context of the platform 

• Support the advancement of therapeutic candidates from discovery to late preclinical development by both performing hands-on experimental work and project leadership 

• Play active role in shaping the metabolic/endocrine and inflammatory disease portfolio at Metaphore, understanding platform capabilities and clinical unmet need to identify and pursue the development of novel therapeutics  

• Project leadership of development programs, cross-functionally leading team of computational scientists, protein engineers and translational scientists to effectively and efficiently develop therapeutics candidates  

• Set and manage budget for the group, including managing in-house and external resources to achieve program specific goals in timely and budget conscious manner  
• Build and lead a team of scientists, supporting their scientific and personal development  

Qualifications 

• PhD or MS in metabolic, biochemistry, immunology or related field 

• Minimum 6+ years of experience in industry, leading and representing the metabolic disease function on project teams 

• A proven track record of displaying excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral and ability to communicate complex information succinctly. 

• Extensive industry experience in the discovery and development of large molecule/biologics therapeutics in the context of metabolic disorders 

• Project leadership experience, prefer
