In 2021 we had a successful $30 million Series A funding round and in 2022 we became the fastest DNS security tool on the planet and joined forces with privacy-focused VPN Guardian! This year we’re continuing our product-fueled growth by adding new features to assist our customers with their DNS-layer security and broadening our solution to align with the Secure Web Gateway market.
As our company grows, we realize we have a missing piece and that’s where you come in! We are looking for a General Counsel to build upon DNSFilter’s legal function. This is a great role for someone who can be hands-on while creating and executing scalable solutions. This role sits on the Executive Team and is an integral part of the company’s success as we continue our sustainable growth.

You will:
- Conduct contract management; review, edit, and negotiate where needed as we expand our partner program
- Implement contracts management process using Ironclad
- Negotiation of standard contracts as well as customer specific contracts.
- Responsible for all aspects of the contracting cycle with respect to sales contracts and various other contracts (purchasing and marketing agreements, etc)
- Manage external legal spend, engaging with our current law firm
- Partner with the Executive Team on strategic growth plans, such as working with our CRO, COO, SVP of HR, and VP of Engineering on international expansion, etc.
- Be responsible for HR legal support and litigation support
- Collaborate with other teams – Sales, Finance, Marketing, HR, etc.
- Help with our Data Privacy and GDPR requirements so we can sell to a broader audience outside the US customer base
You have:
- A minimum of 6 years of in-house legal counsel experience
- A minimum of 2 years experience at a high growth cybersecurity, data-privacy, or other high-tech environment experience
- Developed business acumen, and the ability to combine legal and business analysis and judgment in a practical manner
- The ability to work well both independently and as part of a highly collaborative team
- Demonstrated expertise in conducting privacy impact assessments / privacy by design reviews
- Experience with Federal leaves of absence and wage and hour laws
- Experience drafting and reviewing employment agreements and corporate policies
- Experience conducting investigations and handling sensitive and confidential information with the appropriate discretion
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school and active admission to a state bar
- The ability to understand and evaluate risk and provide practical guidance for a fast-paced company
- Deep understanding of data privacy contract terms and their potential impact on business operations
- Experience in monitoring privacy trends and developments; the ability to translate them into practical guidance or requirements
- Effectiveness in a remote work environment through self-motivation, clear communication, management of your workload and schedule
- Strong project management, technology, and organizational skills
- Effective verbal and written skills
- Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship from an employer now or in the future
- Ability to work in a mostly EST environment
