Job Description
Experience
- 4 years of experience as a medical technologist or histotechnologist in a high complexity clinical laboratory setting

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution
Certification Summary
- Current certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Histotechnician/Histotechnologist (ASCP or equivalent)
- Eligible Georgia Department of Human Resources supervisor certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Considerable knowledge of laboratory equipment, instrumentation, terminology, and regulatory agency standards
- Must have technical expertise for all procedures within a functional area and ability to oversee complex projects with minimal supervision
- Independent judgment and responsibility
- Strong organizational capabilities, good communication skills, enthusiasm, willingness to work with others, and ability to meet deadlines
- Strives for adult-adult relationships with staff and provides support that promotes staff engagement, success, and ownership of morale and interactions with other staff
- Invites staff to hold one another accountable
Job Responsibilities
- Plans, coordinates, and directs testing activities.
- Performs duties, makes decisions, takes actions, and continually strives to improve work processes using an awareness of how work performed is valued by the customer.
- Ensures sufficient quantities of supplies, reagents, and qualified/competent staff are available to meet standards of care as appropriate for age of patients served in a cost-effective manner.
- Supervises laboratory personnel engaged in performing routine and specialized technical procedures, evaluating work
