Description

Job Summary:  Responsible for processing, verifying and maintaining provider credentialing and recredentialing files in accordance with regulatory, accreditation, and organization standards.  Serves as a liaison between providers, office staff and internal departments to facilitate timely and accurate credentialing processes.       

Job Responsibilities:   

  1. Collect, review and verify provider credentials, including but limited to education, licensure, board certification, work history, and malpractice history in a timely manner. 
  2. Monitor expiring documents to ensure up-to-date licensures, certifications, and malpractice insurance information is on file. 
  3. Enter and update provider information into credentialing database. 
  4. Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential records in both electronic and paper formats.  
  5. Serve as primary point of contact for providers regarding status and credentialing requirements. 
  6. Assist provider in completing application and gathering necessary documentation. 
  7. Respond promptly to all inquiries. 
  8. Post privileges on Intranet.
  9. Scan and upload previous reappointments to credentialing database.
  10. Update call schedules and notify departments of changes in call.
  11. Sort and distribute mail.
  12. Assists in Medical Staff meeting preparation.
  13. Conduct affiliation verifications.
  14. Stocks and organizes Medical Staff Lounge.
  15. Process Not-on-Staff Requests.
  16. Provides support to Medical Staff Manager as requested.
  17. Communicates with internal departments regarding changes in contact/faxing preferences, etc.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred. 
  • 2+ years of credentialing, medical staff services, or related healthcare administrative experience preferred. 

Certifications:

  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) from NAMSS within 4 years of hire preferred. 

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of credentialing process, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements preferred. 
  • Proficiency with CredentialStream preferred.
  • Proficiency with Meditech preferred. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
