Assistant Foreman, Maintenance

Summary

Assists in planning and directly supervises the work of mechanics/helpers and related personnel in the repair and maintenance of school facilities and grounds

Essential Duties

• Leads and instructs mechanics/helpers in the repair process to ensure that proper standards of repair work are maintained
• Assists in coordination of distribution of parts and supplies as required
• Assists mechanics with diagnostic and repair problems
• Supervises and leads subordinate employees as assigned
• Performs duties ordinarily assigned to mechanic helper or mechanics as needed
• Performs related work as required by Foreman
• Perform duties of Foreman in his absence or assists at his request
• Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Required Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Certification/Licensure

Valid Georgia Driver License requiredEligible to acquire CDLMust be insurable by Fulton County School insurance carriers

Experience Qualifications

Minimum 5 years as a skilled trade’s mechanic required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Must have computer skills required to perform work order task
• Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities
• Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues
• Must be able to collaborate effectively with District and school personnel, the general public, and work with diverse groups of people
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Working Conditions

• Regular exposure to moving machinery and/or vehicles
• Regular exposure to weather including heat, cold, dampness, and/or humidity
• Must be able to work from tall ladders, lifts and bucket trucks

Physical Demands

• Typically requires climbing ladders, pushing and/or pulling
• May require stooping, crawling, and bending
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and carry for short distances
