General Purpose of the Job
This RN provides broad clinical support across UCP’s residential programs. The nurse strengthens regulatory compliance, supports continuity of care, and assists with coverage needs across the agency. This role requires strong OPWDD experience, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to step into varied environments without losing accuracy or accountability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to (Other duties may be assigned):
Clinical and Compliance Support
Conduct scheduled and unscheduled chart reviews and audits for all residential sites to ensure compliance with OPWDD and agency standards.
Identify documentation gaps and follow up with residence nurses and supervisors to correct issues promptly.
Assist with the creation, revision, and training of PONS for individuals across programs.
Reinforce and support implementation of nursing policies and procedures, escalating concerns when required.
Monitor and support utilization of electronic MAR and health records to ensure regulatory compliance.
Medication Management
Complete AMAP pourings as assigned and ensure medications are prepared accurately and in compliance with agency protocols.
Provide coaching to AMAP staff when patterns of medication errors or knowledge gaps are identified.
Coverage and Support
Provide RN coverage for residences with vacant nursing roles, maintaining continuity of care, medical follow-up, and required documentation.
Support residential teams during transitions, complex medical events, or surveys and survey preparation.
On-Call Responsibilities
Participate in the nursing on-call rotation, providing timely and appropriate guidance to DSPs, supervisors, and residence nurses.
Document all calls in accordance with agency standards and ensure follow-up occurs within the required timeframe.
Training and Staff Development
Deliver training and coaching to DSPs, AMAP personnel, and residential leadership as assigned.
Support corrective action and re-training efforts following incidents, audits, or survey findings.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates for the Nursing Support Administrator position will have:
Current NYS Registered Nurse license
5+ years of nursing experience preferred
1 to 2 years related OPWDD experience and/or training with working knowledge of OPWDD regulations, AMAP guidelines, medication administration practices, PONS development, and documentation standards preferred
Valid NYS driver’s license
Ability to participate in on-call rotation
