Job Details:

Purpose

The Department of Mexican American and Latina/o Studies at The University of Texas at Austin seeks a temporary researcher to perform work involving planning, directing, supervising, and participating in research in a field of social science or humanities for 6 months.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Collect, annotate, and organize Arabic language print news reports and for other relevant language sources as determined, and for mediated sources including videos and photographs. 
  • Attend Biweekly meetings with principal investigator (PI) to discuss progress 
  • Determine popular media outlets to write short pieces on findings as they relate to contemporary and historical events. 
  • Co-author short written or other mediated pieces with the PI. 
  • Help to craft a popular curriculum related to source materials and consultant’s existing expertise. 
  • Determine with PI community partners to provide popular education to local community groups. 
  • Monthly conversation with ‘48 based consultant to brainstorm project ideas and collaborations. 
  • Other tasks as determined jointly by PI and Associate. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in history, library sciences, or related field 
  • Experience researching in libraries in archives 
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master's degree

Salary Range  

$25/hour
