This position is for an on-site Facilities Engineer Co-Op who will join the Manufacturing support team at the Collins Aerospace Manchester, Iowa facility for the Summer - Fall 2025 session. 

Manchester is the Center of Excellence in the manufacture of Avionics Commercial and Military Cockpit Displays! In this roll you would see how Engineers are needed in support of the electrical manufacturing and test environment. You will work with Manufacturing and Facilities Engineers working to implement projects that will impact the site. See how Engineers are able to solve problems internally or work with outside parties to come to solutions. If you are a self-starter and interested in learning what happens in a electronics manufacturing site this may be for you. What You Will Do:

  • Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run May - December (including the Fall semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).

  • Work along side Facilities and Manufacturing Engineers production floor operators and support staff to resolve issues that may impact the site
  • Implement continuous improvement projects and initiatives
  • Creatively resolve or improve site safety concerns
  • Work with layout of shop floor and help maintain systems associated with keeping the facility prepared for production and prepare for any new machinery or movement of machinery.
  • Aid in projects necessary to help improve site safety and sustainability goals

What You Will Learn:

  • A variety of manufacturing techniques used to build and create advanced electronic equipment
  • Systems associated with maintaining and improving aerospace electronics manufacturing
  • Prioritization and balancing work load of multiple projects

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

    Qualification We Prefer:

    • Proficient knowledge using Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
    • Proficient knowledge of CAD software
    • Electronic knowledge
