About the role

Job Description Summary

The Director of Hosting Operations will maintain and optimize on-prem hosting operations for on-prem infrastructure services. In this role, you will lead a global organization of managed service providers, GE technologists, and operational teams. You will partner closely with stakeholders across GE Aerospace sites, networks, and cloud teams to operate a world class delivery model for on-prem infrastructure services that delivers both competitive advantages and meets business needs.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities: In this role you will:

  • Lead a global team to operate on-prem hosting infrastructure operational services supporting Compute, virtualization, storage, Edge and Data Centre/Colo services.
  • Deliver operational cadences for on-prem using Flight Deck operating model. Own, maintain and improve Flight Deck fundamentals for the on-prem team
  • Partner with multiple teams across Aerospace DT, including Cyber, CxO teams to deliver on-prem hosting operations for our customers.
  • Demonstrate strong technical leadership and people management skills including solid communication and analytical skills with thorough understanding of successful problem definition, decomposition, estimation, and resolution.
  • Coach, mentor and nurture a world class operational on-prem hosting services team.
  • Manage capacity, velocity, and backlog across managed service providers and GE technologists to ensure business priorities are met while minimizing or eliminating technical debt across assets.
  • Operate internal Software products and services to improve team capabilities and efficiency, such as lean principals, standard work/ SOPs, process automation, quality assurance and testing.
  • Drive a consistent communication rhythm on governance and operational status, keeping DT leadership and functional partners aligned with critical metrics.
  • Govern a world class wing to wing operational support model.
  • Set the example; drive standards across teams to eliminate duplication and rework across Aerospace.
  • Support the defined chargeback model and financial reallocation for hosting across GE Aerospace.
  • Ensure team receives consistent messages and has clear understanding of GE Aerospace business direction, strategy, and GE Aerospace results. Make GE’s Business strategy relevant to on-prem services and stakeholders.
  • Establish and foster a work culture at all levels that is positive, collaborative, diverse, inclusive, respectful, innovative, dynamic, with integrity, and capable of driving positive change over sustained periods of time.
  • Technical leadership to influence suppliers on operational decisions that align to our standards.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or college with minimum of 8 years of professional experience OR Associates degree with minimum of 11 years of professional experience OR High School Diploma with minimum of 13 years of professional experience
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in infrastructure services and hosting (Compute, virtualization, storage) technologies.
  • Experience working in an ITIL environment
  • ITIL3 and/or ITIL4 foundation certified
  • Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience

  • Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing team members
  • Experience providing feedback on performance toward goals
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interface with Executive leadership with confidence and clarity
