About the role
Key duties and responsibilities
- Consult with clients on underwriting program goals, objectives and design
- Define underwriting intent and assist with translation of intent to the configuration team for accurate implementation
- Ensure rules and outcomes meet intent and program objectives
- Review, analyze and assess impacts of changes to rules for underwriting and pricing considerations
- Understand industry trends of underwriting automation, data and product offerings to educate internal team and consult with clients
- Assess, anayze and define intent and rules for existing and new data sources to ensure optimal engine performance
- Identify opportunities for overall underwriting program improvement for existing and prospective clients
Required experience & competencies
- 7-10 years fully underwritten life Insurance underwriting experience
- 3-5 years experience with Accelerated Underwriting programs
- Demonstrated ability to apply underwriting concepts and design appropriate analytic and risk management measures
- Exposure to and and experience with utilizing rules based, automated underwriting systems, including development and enhancement of rules, processes and data sources.
- Experience in evaluating and analyzing vendor solutions including predictive scoring tools, rules, and evolving data sources
- High level of independence and self direction in addition to collaboration, correlation and attention to detail.
- Ability to work within cross functional teams and disciplines Simplified or Guaranteed Issue program underwriting or development experience preferred.
- Strong client facing interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and initiative skills
- Problem solving skills and resourcefulness to seek and find answers and solutions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Pivot Tables, Filtering, Formulas
Required Education
- BA/BS degree or equivalent
- FALU and FLMI preferred
