Platform Ingest - Principal Software Engineer (Golang)

Platform Ingest at Elastic is responsible for building tools to collect and ingest data easily, efficiently, and quickly. We are responsible for Elastic Agent as a unified data collector for Elastic solutions, Fleet as a central management platform, Integrations platform as a marketplace experience to discover and build third party integrations to bring data into Elastic Stack, and data transformation and processing tooling of Logstash, ingest pipelines and runtime fields.

What you will be doing:

• Authoring code on a fully-distributed team of engineers supporting the Platform Ingest team’s mission.
• Participate in technical architecture discussions and cross-team efforts.
• Spend time reviewing pull requests, reading and writing design documents, developing automated testing strategies and manual test plans, and participating in team and product discussions, both in the Open Source community and internal projects
• Collaborate with product management, design, and other Ingest teams to ship compelling features for the central management platform.
• Collaborate with teams across Elastic to build a platform that serves the needs of other solution teams such as Observability and Security.
• Foster a culture of mutual respect and collaborative decision-making.
• Participating in an on-call rotation for supporting Platform Ingest products running in our SaaS offering, Elastic Cloud.

What you bring along:

• Production experience with Golang at scale
• Experience with Open Source
• System-level knowledge of Linux
• Experience writing automated tests
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical, problem solving, debugging and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as needed

What you might have:

• Experience as Technical Lead for a team of five or more engineers
• Familiarity with the Elastic Stack
• Experience with working in a Kubernetes based SaaS environment
• Experience working in environments with FedRAMP security controls
