Department: Cardiovascular Testing
Shift/Schedule: Full Time (36 hrs/wk)

GENERAL SUMMARY

Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager. The Registered Nurse's primary job function is to perform or assist with performing vascular and/or cardiac tests, gather information, set up equipment and relay pertinent information to both patient and physician/provider. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• GED/High School Diploma required

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program required

• Knowledge of cardiology, arrhythmia, and cardiac anatomy required

Licensure:

• Licensed to practice as an RN in Ohio required

• BLS within 90 days of hire required

• ACLS within 1 year of hire required

Experience:

• Two years experience in cardiology-arrhythmia and cardiac anatomy required.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. 

1. Collects data regarding patient medical history and relays information to other team members and/or physicians/providers.

2. Assesses patients for testing—taking into consideration safety and contraindications of testing.

3. Performs vascular and/or cardiac testing.

4. Documents pertinent information.

5. Assists physicians with tests.

6. Provides nursing care and patient/family education as needed.

7. Responds appropriately to emergency situations.

8. Maintains professional standards by participating in continuing educational program.

9. Participates in the CQI process by collecting data.

10. Pre-cleans, decontaminates and transports contaminated instruments according to policy.

11. Performs intermediate-level disinfection and/ or high level disinfection per the Instructions for Use (IFU) by the manufacture. This includes ensuring the scopes or probes used within the department are cleaned, disinfected, maintained and stored per the IFU’s.
