GE Vernova Research-Energy Research is looking for a Research Engineer –Chemical Engineering. You will have the opportunity to develop/testing and modelling next generation solid oxide fuel cells, electrolyzers, batteries, supercapacitors, Direct Air Capture system for the clean power generation and storage, energy conversion technologies. This role will have exciting opportunities to help define and develop sustainable solutions to the biggest challenges in the ongoing Energy Transition and sustainability fuels, which is the core of GE Vernova business.GE Vernova’s Advanced Research Center is the central innovation engine for GE Vernova’s portfolio of energy businesses. Job Description
As a Research Engineer – Chemical Engineering, you will:
Conduct and lead projects in execute design, analysis, and validation of Energy Conversion technologies, solid oxide fuel cells, electrolyzers, supercapacitors, batteries research, Direct Air Capture system
Testing and Evaluation: design and conducting lab scale experiments to assess the performance of solid oxide fuel cells, batteries in various environments and under different stress conditions,
Characterization: Analyzing the chemical, electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties of materials.
Failure Analysis: Investigating the causes of energy device and developing solutions to prevent it. postmortem analysis, performance & stability data analysis and modelling
Collaboration: Collaborate with engineers and scientists from across the Vernova Advanced Research Center and business segments, to advance the energy transition.
Design & execute experiments, and independently lead tasks to benefit GE Vernova businesses and customers.
Shape proposals with GEV businesses, government agencies, universities, and national laboratories. Contribute and lead proposal teams as Principal Investigator or as a team member.
Prepare written reports and presentations for stakeholders that describe the value, strategy & approach and results of work.
Coordinate analytical work to define, meet or exceed customer entitlements.
Develop and identify new technology, products and service opportunities in the area of energy materials, device and system
Connect the organization to the latest technology developments and trends.
Be aware of competing and disruptive technologies and leverage that knowledge to develop robust technology for the business
Required Qualifications
Doctorate Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field, or Master Degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in developing/testing materials for energy system applications: solid oxide fuel cells, batteries, electrolyzers, supercapacitors, generators, switchgears, transformers, circuit breakers and devices or equipment
Proven record of innovation, including peer-reviewed publications, in areas related to high voltage dielectric insulation materials and system design, synthesis, testing, and or modelling,
Strong dedication to a career in technology and passion for supporting and leading the energy transition.
Excitement and enthusiasm for growing technical skills in energy storage and conversion, solid oxide fuel cells and solid oxide electrolysis cells, Li ion super capacitor, Li ion and Li metal batteries,
Hands-on experience in leading batteries and fuel cells testing, postmortem analysis, advance materials characterization, performance & stability data analysis and modelling.
Experience with electrochemistry device fabrication, material synthesis, process development, cell assembly, performance and stability testing
Materials Science Fundamentals: A strong understanding of organic and or inorganic material chemistry organic and orgonic formulation and properties, including electrical, mechanical, thermal, and chemical characteristics.
Materials Characterization Techniques: Experience with techniques like microscopy (optical and electron), XRD, and thermal analysis.
Problem-solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to identify and solve complex technical problems related to insulation performance.
Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication skil
