As a Head of Financial Planning Tools & Strategy for J.P. Morgan Wealth Management, you will define and execute the vision for advisor planning tools. You will drive adoption, engagement, and continuous improvement of the planning tools ecosystem. This role bridges field and home office, ensuring technology aligns with advisor and client needs. You will partner with product and technology leaders to deliver best-in-class solutions to advisors.

 

Job responsibilities:

 

  • Define and execute strategic vision for financial planning tools, aligning technology capabilities with advisor and client needs across the organization
  • Assess current planning tools landscape, identify gaps in adoption, functionality, and advisor experience, and develop a multi-year roadmap for improvement
  • Drive advisor adoption and engagement by modeling best practices, identifying barriers, and implementing targeted interventions in partnership with field leaders
  • Represent advisor and client requirements in product roadmap reviews, enhancement prioritization, and upgrade cycles to ensure tools deliver meaningful outcomes
  • Partner with internal product, technology, and vendor teams to manage contracts, oversee implementations, and advocate for Wealth Planning’s interests
  • Oversee centralized support and field-facing teams, including help desk operations and direct advisor engagement for tool-related questions and training
  • Design and implement scalable training programs, develop advisor-facing materials, and embed new capabilities into practice management initiatives
  • Develop and execute communications strategy for planning tool updates, launches, and enhancements, ensuring advisors are informed and prepared
  • Collaborate with Practice Management and field leadership to integrate planning tool fluency into advisor development programs and client engagement standards
  • Translate advisor and client needs into actionable product requirements, serving as a credible counterpart to technology partners and holding teams accountable
  • Lead change management efforts to shift advisor behavior at scale, sustaining momentum and driving adoption through expertise, trust, and relationship-building

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

 

  • Hold an active Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Juris Doctor (JD), or equivalent credential, demonstrating deep expertise in financial planning or legal dimensions of wealth transfer and tax strategy
  • Possess a minimum of 15 years of leadership experience in financial services, with a proven track record of managing teams, cross-functional initiatives, and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrate substantial experience operating at the intersection of financial planning and technology, including direct engagement with enterprise planning software platforms such as Moneyguide Pro, eMoney, Wealth Bench, or NaviPlan
  • Exhibit strong communication skills and executive presence, capable of representing Wealth Planning at senior levels and engaging credibly with practicing financial advisors
  • Bring experience in large, complex financial institutions with distributed sales forces, understanding the nuances of advisor support and technology adoption
  • Show expertise in high-net-worth client planning, including familiarity with the legal and regulatory environment governing financial planning, fiduciary standards, and suitability frameworks
  • Lead change management and technology adoption initiatives, meeting resistance with curiosity and sustaining momentum over multi-year adoption curves
  • Demonstrate ability to drive outcomes through product partners, technologists, field leaders, and vendor organizations that do not report directly to the individual
  • Possess field credibility to engage with advisors as peers, earning trust through substantive planning knowledge and designing support systems that reflect advisor practice realities
  • Translate complex advisor and client needs into actionable product requirements, holding technology teams accountable to delivery timelines and quality standards
  • Articulate a compelling vision for world-class financial planning tool adoption and advisor support at scale, marshalling resources and organizational will to achieve it

  • Hold advanced credentials such as a Master of Laws (LLM) in taxation or estate planning, Master of Science in Financial Planning, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®), or C
