About the role

This role will prepare all supplies for day-to-day duties to ensure that the entire site can run smoothly. The medical assistant will also provide administrative support to physicians and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Works under the clinical supervision of the practice physician(s) and is responsible for assisting the physicians in the practice.
  • Assists in examination and treatment of patients, interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e.: pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height).
  • Draws and collects blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Interview patients and document medical history.
  • Organize and schedule appointments.
  • Communicates results to patients via phone.
  • Assembles supplies (PPE, Test kits, etc.) and delivers as necessary.
  • Complete packing and shipping of samples
    • Other duties that may arise from time-to-time and/or are commensurate with the title and position.

OTHER PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED
  • Current certification and Current BLS
  • 2+ years of experience in a clinical patient setting is preferred.
  • Able to wear PPE for extended periods of time without restriction.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially to a diverse range of audiences and settings.
  • The ability to make decisions.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks while working in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with high pressure.
  • Flexible schedule to include late afternoon and evening hours and Overtime and weekends as needed to provide support for safety emergencies or incidents that occur after hours or on weekends.
  • Must possess the physical capability to lift, bend, and perform other physical tasks requiring a minimum strength of 50 lbs.
