About the Tax Team

The Proofpoint Tax Department is responsible for the assessment and review of the Company’s transactions as it relates to all forms of tax compliance as well as accounting for income taxes under US GAAP.  We are looking for an experienced Tax Senior to assist the Vice President of Tax and Tax Directors in managing the Company’s daily tax operations.

This role will report to the Vice President of Tax and will be involved in additional projects as needed.  The ideal candidate will have experience overseeing and driving projects through to completion, driving efficient and scalable processes for a growing company, and who is looking for a challenging yet rewarding role in a rapid growth environment.  This is a great opportunity that will allow for career growth as the company continues to expand and complement its worldwide tax operations.

Your day-to-day

• Assist with the completion of quarterly and year-end income tax provisions in accordance with US GAAP
• Assist with annual federal and state income tax compliance engagement with assistance of third-party consultants
• Assist with the preparation of monthly sales and indirect tax process
• Assist with completion of other tax related filings such as business property tax, gross receipts filings, annual reports and VAT filings
• Understand Proofpoint products and monitoring transactions to identify potential areas of tax risk or tax opportunity
• Preparing JE’s and related monthly/quarterly account reconciliations while providing analysis for fluctuations for assigned accounts to identify unusual trends or activity
• Assist with special projects and initiatives (e.g. R&D Studies, Transfer Pricing Studies, refund opportunities, tax audits, census, and due diligence on potential acquisitions) as assigned​

What you bring to the team

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• CPA license preferred
• 4+ years of progressive experience in either public accounting or a corporate tax department
• Detailed understanding of corporate income tax compliance and accounting
• Experienced with sales and use tax compliance
• Experience working on corporate multinational companies
• Strong Excel skills
• Experience with tax research software
• Must be meticulous, detail oriented and organized
• Superior interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and with across functional teams
• Self-motivated
• Have the ability to be flexible while working with time constraints and deadlines
