Examples of duties

This position supports daily food service operations by preparing food, maintaining clean work areas, and assisting with meal delivery and sanitation. The role ensures a safe, organized environment that provides quality meals for consumers at Danville State Hospital. As a Food Service Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Food Preparation: Clean, chop, slice, portion, and assemble food items using approved kitchen equipment
  • Meal Service: Set up serving lines, assemble trays, and help distribute both hot and cold foods
  • Sanitation Work: Clean dishes, work surfaces, dining areas, and equipment following proper procedures
  • Area Cleaning: Sweep, mop, sanitize, and organize food service spaces including storage and refrigeration areas
  • Dishware Tasks: Load and operate dishwashing machines and return clean items to proper storage locations
  • Stocking Duties: Move food and supplies, rotate inventory, and maintain organized storage areas

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, Sunday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your work schedule will include rotating days off, weekends, and holidays as assigned. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime: As needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
