Job Summary
- Perform moderate- to high-complexity laboratory testing on blood, urine, stool, and other body fluids using established procedures.
- Operate automated and manual testing systems for hematology, urinalysis, microscopy, infectious disease screening, pregnancy testing, and point-of-care glucose testing.
- Receive and identify patients, verify test orders, perform phlebotomy, and follow universal precautions and specimen-collection standards.
- Process, store, and prepare specimens for in-house testing or shipment to reference laboratories, applying proper acceptance and rejection criteria.
- Enter, review, approve, and report test results in the laboratory information system while maintaining accurate records and performing quality control.
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and equipment according to manufacturer specifications and established procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory; prepare reagents and media and replenish supplies as needed.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science or equivalent from an accredited institution or equivalent post-secondary education, training and experience as defined by the California Division of Laboratory Science.
- Two years of increasingly responsible and diverse experience as a journey-level Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
Licenses, Certificates, Credentials:
- Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
- Basic life support (or higher) cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillator (CPR/AED) certification for Healthcare Providers (by date of hire).
Salary:
Anticipated Hiring Range: $32.01 - $35.34 Per Hour
Classification Range: $32.01 - $46.63per hour
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
