<strong>BDO Irelands Customs and International Trade </strong>department is growing, and we have an open vacancy for a <strong>Senior</strong> <strong>Manager</strong>. As a Senior Manager in the team you will work directly with clients to navigate customs regulations, optimize cross-border operations, and support compliance programs. You’ll play a hands-on role in project delivery while contributing to the growth of our practice through internal development, client support, and thought leadership.<br/><br/>
<br/><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul>
<li>Deliver customs and trade compliance consulting services to a diverse client base, including import/export diagnostics, customs reviews, and compliance strategy development</li>
<li>Conduct classification (HTS), valuation, and origin analysis; advise clients on documentation, customs clearance, and risk mitigation</li>
<li>Support clients in preparing for and responding to customs audits or appeals </li>
<li>Perform trade data analysis and benchmarking to identify duty-saving opportunities (e.g., FTAs, customs warehousing, IPR/OPR, duty drawback)</li>
<li>Draft and review internal procedures, SOPs, and manuals for client customs operations</li>
<li>Collaborate closely with the Partner in charge and other Departments on client work</li>
<li>Monitor regulatory changes and trade policy developments, producing client alerts or internal briefings for your client base </li>
<li>Participate in proposal development and thought leadership</li>
<li>Assist in mentoring junior team members and building internal tools/templates</li>

<br/><br/><h3>Skills, Knowledge and Expertise</h3><ul>
<li>Degree level</li>
<li>Minimum 8 years of experience in customs and international trade </li>
<li>Experience in a Customs Consulting role </li>
<li>Strong technical understanding of customs rules (e.g., EU Customs Code, WCO guidelines)</li>
<li>Practical experience with preferential origin, valuation, and classification</li>
<li>Confident communicator with strong client-facing and report-writing skills</li>
<li>Proficient with basic IT tools </li>
<li>Understanding of using trade systems (e.g., SAP GTS, Oracle GTM) is a plus <br/><br/>
</li>
</ul><strong>Preferred Attributes:</strong><ul>
<li>Experience advising or working with clients in sectors such as manufacturing or life sciences</li>
<li>Thorough understanding of AIS and Customs Declarations </li>
<li>Relevant certification </li>
<li>Self-starter comfortable working in a flexible, fast-paced environment with direct client interaction</li>
<li>Comfortable with business development and generation </li>
