Job Description:

Full time position working 40 hours per week from 5:30 am - 2:00 pm. Every other weekend and holiday off. Hourly pay is $16.579/hr. PLUS an additional $3 per hour for every hour worked, which brings it to $19.579/hr. CNVH offers a monthly $200 commuter bonus for those who live 30+ miles away (conditions apply).

The Central Nebraska Veteran’s Home is seeking an individual that is passionate about preparing delicious, nutritious, and creative meals for the Veterans who reside in our long term care facility. Let your creativity flow while having fun serving America’s Heroes!

Job Duties: Prepare, season, cook and bake food items according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, and number of portions to be served, Train food service staff in the preparation of simple foods/snacks and in the serving of food, and in dishwashing, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen equipment. Maintain kitchen and dining room records. (A position may not be assigned all duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all the duties that may be assigned.)


 

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Coursework, training and/or experience in food preparation, baking and/or kitchen operations in the food service industry. Must be 18 years of age.


 

Knowledge of: kitchen and dining room safety practices, special diets provided by the facility, recipes and cooking techniques for the preparation of meats, vegetables, soups, salads and  baked goods.

Ability to: communicate effectively with facility members and co-workers; prepare the most complex or difficult recipes, safely use sharp, heavy or hot kitchen equipment, utensils or supplies; train and supervise all aspects of kitchen and dining room operations; tolerate high temperature and high humidity; bend, stoop, lift and carry food items, equipment and supplies. Overtime may be required.
