We are seeking a collaborative and solutions-focused Mechanical Engineer – R&D, Elevator Door Systems to join our Engineering Product Development team at Vantage Elevation.

You’ll play a hands-on role in the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of mechanical hardware and components for elevator door systems, helping deliver quality, safety, and reliability across our products.

Requirements

We are searching for a candidate with:


Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
2–4 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, preferably within a product development, R&D, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
Experience in the elevator industry or with electro-mechanical equipment is considered an asset.
Experience designing mechanical components and assemblies from concept through testing and production implementation.
Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Inventor a plus), 2D CAD, and the preparation of detailed engineering drawings.
Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), engineering drawings, and mechanical design standards.
Understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Lean manufacturing principles.
Experience with engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, material selection, and mechanical component design.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, casting, and/or assembly.
Experience developing and executing product testing and validation plans.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis.
Ability to interpret and apply technical standards, codes, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Strong technical documentation skills, including experience with engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and engineering change documentation.
Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and other functional teams.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a deadline-driven environment.
Ability and willingness to develop a thorough understanding of elevator systems, particularly elevator door systems and equipment, applicable elevator codes, and certification requirements.


Duties and Responsibilities

A typical day may include:


Design, develop, test, and validate mechanical components, assemblies, and hardware for elevator door systems and equipment.
Create and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and other technical documentation.
Develop mechanical designs using 3D CAD software and ensure designs meet functional, performance, quality, and manufacturability requirements.
Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Lean principles throughout the product development process.
Perform engineering calculations and analysis to support design decisions and verify product performance.
Develop prototypes, coordinate testing, analyze test results, and recommend design improvements based on findings.
Support R&D and product development activities from initial concept and design through validation, certification, and production implementation.
Develop a thorough understanding of elevator systems, with a focus on elevator door equipment, mechanical interfaces, system operation, and product applications.
Ensure designs comply with applicable elevator codes, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and product certification requirements.
Work collaboratively with Electrical Engineering
