Veterinary Assistant

Location: 3681 Middle Urbana Rd, Springfield, OH 45502

 

VCA Northwood Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our exceptional team! 

 

Schedule:  Part time, flexible schedule that would include some Saturdays.  

 

Compensation:  The starting range $ 16 - 18/hr is determined by license, skill set, and years of experience in the field.

What You'll Do: 

As a member of VCA Northwood Animal Hospital, you will support the team by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients. Skills that will be utilized may include, but are not limited to:

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with exams and procedures 

• Take patient histories and perform TPRs (temperature, pulse, respiration) 

• Restrain animals safely and compassionately 

• Prepare and clean exam rooms 

• Assist with radiographs, lab sample collection, and basic in-house diagnostics 

• Maintain accurate medical records and support charting 

• Provide client education and ensure excellent service during visits 

• Help maintain a clean, stocked, and organized hospital environment

Qualifications: 

• Previous experience in a veterinary setting as a Veterinary Assistant 

• Comfortable handling dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments 

• High school diploma or equivalent required
