About the role

Description

Terraphase Engineering is seeking a full-time Staff Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in our Woodinville, WA office. 


The Role 

  • Observation of earthwork and foundation construction on projects to develop an understanding of soil conditions and construction-related geotechnical issues. 
  • Complete soil density tests with a nuclear density gauge. 
  • Responsible for preparing field reports and performing geotechnical analyses such as slope stability, bearing capacity, settlement, deep foundation design, and seismic evaluation. 
  • Assists with gathering field data and field samples for related projects. Coordinates samples for testing as needed. 
  • May also be responsible for providing support to our geotechnical teams at other locations as needed. 
  • Complete Laboratory soil tests. 
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of standard field sampling techniques with a focus on soil and groundwater. 
  • Document and record field data and observations in a clear and concise manner. 
  • Acquire knowledge of intrusive drilling and sampling techniques. Direct and oversee the installation of groundwater monitoring wells, emphasizing geotechnical considerations. 
  • Assist in the preparation of site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs). 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to implementing safe geotechnical work practices in the field, aligning with HASP and relevant regulations. 
  • Assist in the preparation of project plans and technical reports. 

Who You Are 

  • Bachelor's Degree required. 
  • 0-2 years experience. 
  • Basic computer skills. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Adobe Professional is preferred. 
  • Clean driving record. 
  • Must possess excellent communication, teamwork, analytical, organizational, technical writing, and client service skills. 
  • Self-sufficient and ability to work under pressure of deadlines. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Must be able to oversee and work with subcontractors (e.g., drillers, construction workers, etc.) while performing field work 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Nuclear density gauge training certification. 
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Training 
  • CPR and First Aid Training.

Salary 

Compensation for this position is based on years of experience, technical expertise, technical education, and geographic location with a range of $62,550 to $82,500.
