Within the Health Division, the Indigenous Health Partnerships and Collaboration branch is dedicated to developing and supporting partnerships with our Indigenous community partners that help improve health status of Indigenous peoples and reduce the gaps between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Albertans.

This position leads the work of the Engagement and Program Expertise team to develop and implement strategies for enhanced, trusted, and robust relationships that support First Nation, Métis and Inuit communities, preparing briefings, engaging with key stakeholders, and the implementation of projects.

This position supports the Government of Alberta's (GoA) platform commitments for Indigenous health and contributes to the Ministry's participation on a number of formal Indigenous engagement tables.

This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, as these projects require ongoing collaboration and coordination with other branches and divisions, government departments, jurisdictions, and First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities/organizations.

The Ministry of Health establishes the Government of Alberta’s strategic direction for health, including advising government on health policy, legislation and standards, and public health concerns; monitoring and reporting health system performance; setting policies and priorities for the electronic/digital health environment; and providing oversight and ensuring accountability across the health system.

Role Responsibilities

Service Delivery Excellence
 

  • Oversight of program implementation.
  • Effectively manage the operations and set in place processes to ensure that staff provide accurate and timely information is reflected on all Alberta platforms, including but not limited to the real time information sharing on the phone, through email, Indigenous Health website, social media accounts and auto responses.
  • Assesses, analyzes, and develops, in consultation with the Director, senior leadership teams (i.e. Executive Director, Assistant Deputy Minister), and colleagues in other units, the programs, procedures, and standards related to operational service delivery for the unit.
  • Cultivate and encourage a strong commitment and ethic toward service excellence within the unit and among the wider team.


Operations and Regulatory Services
 

  • Support the Director, and EDO in achieving the mandate, goals, and operations of the ADMO and the mandates of the Division. 
  • Create and oversee the implementation of administrative and operational mechanisms that facilitate program delivery within the work unit.


Project Management
 

  • Efficient and effective project plans are in place for to ensure strategic operations.


Leadership and Accountability
 

  • Strategic priorities are identified, planned, and advanced through government's decision-making process in a timely manner through appropriate analysis, consultation, and political consideration.
