Description:
Under the direction of the Black Student Achievement Program Supervisor, the BSAP Summer Institute School Counselor will promote student success, provide preventive services, and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic, career, and social/emotional development for all students within the program.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Certifications:
Possession of (or eligibility for) a Professional Certification as a School Counselor by the Maryland State Department of Education.
Knowledge of growth and developmental stages for child and adolescent development.
Official proof of education and certification must be uploaded at the time of submitting the application. (An official transcript or an evaluation of Foreign education by one of the agencies approved by Maryland State Dept. of Education (MSDE) is required)

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Experience
A current employee of a school district.
Knowledge of national, state, and local school counseling standards and adherence to professional and ethical standards of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).
Have three years of successful school-based professional counseling experience.
Demonstrated outstanding interpersonal communication with the ability to work effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds.
Outstanding references relative to demonstrated knowledge of current instructional and curricular methodologies.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, central office, and school-based staff, students, parents, and community members.
Excellent oral, written, speaking, and analytical skills.
Ability to properly maintain confidential information.
