Job Description
Alumni Data & Technology Analyst
The Alumni Data & Technology Analyst is an integral part of a collaborative team of technology professionals, relationship builders and experience designers who provides consistency, vision and alignment with CES priorities through data collection, management and analysis. This position is responsible for the management and analysis of alumni and external data to support strategic engagement initiatives and marketing efforts. They involve data collection, enhancement, analysis, and assessment to strengthen alumni relations and engagement initiatives. They also generate strategic insights to support the continuous improvement of BYU Alumni Relations efforts. They work closely with departments across campus to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and strategic use of alumni data, playing a key role in the execution of alumni engagement initiatives and marketing strategies. They identify and implement artificial intelligence solutions to aid analysis and insights. Their efforts help to maintain and attract new relationships and improve perceptions of alumni populations.
This position also supervises student-employee developers and support team and serves as the unit's customer support representative (CSR) to the university.
What you will be doing in this position:
Data Analysis
- Conduct comprehensive data analysis to generate actionable insights that support alumni engagement strategies and organizational objectives.
- Create and utilize interactive dashboards and metric-driven reports using data visualization tools such as Business Objects, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Design and interpret surveys to gain insights into alumni behavior, perceptions, and engagement, and integrate findings into engagement strategies.
- Leverage metrics and statistical reports to guide decision-making, including predictive modeling and behavior analysis.
- Define alumni personas, analyze engagement trends, and recommend engagement priorities to support the Alumni Engagement Framework (AEF).
Insight Generation & Strategy
- Translate complex data into meaningful insights that inform the development and implementation of alumni and friends engagement strategies.
- Collaborate with the MarCom team to leverage data science in promoting alumni programs and initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of alumni personas and help design targeted engagement campaigns based on data insights.
Statistical Data Reports and Analysis
- Design data mining and predictive modeling to assist university leadership in developing effective impact among targeted alumni populations.
- Work with Alumni Records and Reporting Manager to enhance proper collection and maintenance of Alumni data.
- Assist with the Alumni Engagement Framework (AEF) design to augment and automate statistical reporting offerings from Alumni Relations.
Technology Management and Support
- Works autonomously on assigned tasks and moderately complex products/projects/environments.
- Facilitates endpoint and network engineering including managing inventory and peripheral equipment.
- Manages and maintains web servers for Alumni Relations; supports department websites currently using Brightspot.
- Oversees web application development.
- Provide technical support for Alumni Relations and some division units as needed.
- Serves as CSR liaison with central IT for review, selection and maintenance of enterprise software and hardware solutions and security practices.
