Job Summary
The Classroom Technology Specialist I, under general supervision, diagnoses and repairs hardware and software failures and conflicts, configures computers, resolves connectivity issues within local and wide-area networks and provides support for technology-related courses in the support of instruction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Tracks and assists in the coordination of equipment repair and work order assignments. Provides detailed work records which outline the history of tests, performance problems, and repairs for each piece of equipment.
Provides support for labs, classroom computers, peripherals, music and theatre computer labs, recording studios, multimedia teaching labs, theatrical spaces and site-specific installations.
Creates software images and manages technical resources for deployment.
Attends trainings and assists in researching, testing, and disseminating operation instructions. Tracks developments and specifications in state-of-the-art technologies, computers, peripherals, and test equipment.
Provides consultative and technical services to campus community.
Prepares requisitions and inventory acquisitions of products and services.
Assists in training and coordinating tasks of student workers.

Additional Responsibilities
Supervisory position that requires managing part-time employees and student lab assistants.
Be proactive at reducing downtime of instructional equipment (lecterns and computer labs).
Assist in event request setups including setup of projectors, laptops and PA systems.
Minimum Requirements
Education – Bachelor’s degree in (CIS, MIS or related field).
Experience – One year of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in CIS, MIS or related field
At least 2 years’ experience in audio/visual (A/V) or computer technician related field
Prior supervisory experience.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
Word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Desktop repair, software support, and basic networking elements.
Computer security and administration tools. Knowledge of administrating various computer lab environments including visualization, imaging, and desktop security.
Ability to:
Multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.
Preferred Knowledge and Abilities
Experience in an educational environment.
Related customer service experience.
Licensing / Professional Certification – None.

This position generally does not supervise employees.
Other Requirements
Evening and weekend work may occasionally be required.
Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.
Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
This position will require evening and weekend work hours.
Support Schedule: 1:00 pm – 10:00 pm Monday – Thursday
11:00 am – 8:00 pm Friday
Salary: $16.83/hourly
