Title: Director, Global Raw Material Management
Role Summary:
The Director, Global Raw Material Management is responsible for developing and executing the global strategy for planning and managing raw materials across the organization. This role ensures supply continuity and cost optimization across a complex global supply base. The Director, Global Raw Material Management leads a team of highly accountable planners and a data analyst across multiple global manufacturing sites. This role also collaborates cross functionally with Procurement, Quality, Finance, Manufacturing and R&D.
Ensure raw material availability through robust planning, forecasting and inventory management processes
Continuously evaluate capacity requirements vs. strategic production targets over both near and long-term horizons
Proactively identify and quantify potential global supply chain risks and vulnerabilities, including geopolitical, economic, and environmental factors
Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, contingency plans, and business continuity measures to ensure uninterrupted supply chain operations that support customer service level objectives
Create integrated replenishment strategies to optimize operating working capital. Continuously focus on minimizing "aged" inventory.
Facilitate use of and adherence to ordering proper economic order quantities.
Develop and manage Vendor managed programs
Manage inventory turns/Days on hand
Empower, inspire, and scale, the planning organization to provide continuous improvements and optimization of inventory investment while delivering customer service level that meet or exceed customers’ expectations
Collaborate with key parties to coordinate and progress Engineering Change Requests and Orders (ECRs and ECOs) for New Product Introductions (NPIs) and product information changes
Optimize customer satisfaction and financial performance by coordinating safety stock targets and achieving targets for backorder, LIFR, and inventory
Develop and maintain robust analytical models and tools to analyze global supply chain data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights
Utilize statistical methods, data visualization, and other advanced techniques, to evaluate global supply chain performance and support decision making at strategic and tactical levels
Drive tier 1 and tier 2 suppliers to ensure material planning processes are followed and that available material will achieve target inventory levels.
Required Knowledge and Behaviors:
Proven experience leading a team of planners in multiple sites in a fast-placed, matrix environment.
Deep understanding of raw material sourcing, lead times, and supplier management
Experience with medical device components, excipients, and packaging materials
GMP & Regulatory Compliance
Strong knowledge of FDA, ISO 13485, and EU MDR requirements for raw materials
Familiarity with combination product regulations and component traceability
Analytical & Quality Testing Oversight
Oversight of analytical testing for raw materials and device components
Experience with method validation, material specifications, and release testing
Understanding of SAP S/4HAN
Data & Metrics-Driven Decision Making
Uses KPIs to monitor supplier performance, inventory levels, and forecast accuracy
Applies statistical tools and root cause analysis to resolve supply issues
Project & Portfolio Management
Manages cross-functional projects involving sourcing, testing, and qualifications
Education and Experience:
• 15+ years of supply chain operations experience with a global manufacturing organization, including experience in SAP (preferably S/4HANA).
