Department Overview:

This paid internship is ideal for students interested in event planning, marketing, hospitality, or community engagement. You’ll contribute meaningful ideas, collaborate with businesses and community partners, and build portfolio-worthy experience in both the creative and operational sides of event marketing.

The Events & Marketing team at Internera focuses on creating meaningful in-person and promotional experiences for clients and communities. This department works across multiple industries to develop event concepts, coordinate logistics, build partnerships, and execute events that drive engagement, brand awareness, and community connection.

The department is responsible for event ideation, planning, logistics, partnerships, and execution, working closely with management, staff, and external organizations to create successful and memorable events. By securing sponsors and partnerships, the team helps expand The Rigby’s outreach and impact while supporting charitable causes and local businesses.

Schedule:

Nights and weekends, but we are flexible. Also working remotely.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

Minimum: $12.00 Maximum: $14.00

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Event Management, Hospitality, Communications, Business, Public Relations, or a related field
• Interest in event planning, experiential marketing, hospitality, or community engagement
• Strong organization, communication, and multitasking skills
• Creative mindset with ability to develop event ideas and solutions
• Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with changing priorities
• Ability to collaborate with teams, clients, and external partners
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for events
• Hospitality, customer service, or event experience is a plus but not required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge:
• Basic understanding of event planning and coordination
• Awareness of community engagement, promotions, or fundraising events
• Familiarity with hospitality or venue operations is helpful
• Understanding of basic marketing and promotional strategies
Skills:
• Event planning and logistical coordination
• Strong communication with team members and external partners
• Creative thinking for event concepts and promotions
• Time management and ability to handle multiple events/tasks
• Problem-solving in fast-paced or live event environments
Abilities:
• Work independently while also collaborating with a team
• Adapt quickly to changes during planning or live events
• Represent client brands and Internera professionally
• Assist with event setup, execution, and breakdown when needed
• Stay organized and track event details for follow-up and improvement

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The Marketing & Event Programming Intern will support Internera in developing and executing events across multiple client accounts and internal initiatives. This role involves contributing to event ideas, assisting with planning and logistics, supporting promotional efforts, and helping ensure successful execution.

Key responsibilities include:
• Brainstorm and develop creative event concepts
• Assist in planning and coordinating event logistics (scheduling, materials, timelines)
• Support execution of public, private, and promotional events
• Help promote events through social media, flyers, and outreach
• Assist with partnership and sponsorship research when applicable
• Work with local businesses, organizations, and internal teams on event collaboration
• Support event setup, on-site execution, and post-event follow-up
• Track event outcomes and help identify areas for improvement
• Contribute ideas in planning and team meetings

Physical Demands:

This role includes both planning and hands-on event participation. Interns should be comfortable with:
• Standing, walking, and moving during event setup and execution
• Light lifting and carrying of event materials when needed
• Working in fast-paced, high-energy environments
• Occasional evening and weekend availability for scheduled events
• On-site work at venues and client locations within Madison
