About the role
A Summer 2025 internship opportunity is available in Las Vegas for full time students studying Marketing, Social Work, Public Relations, Journalism, Communications,Business Management or related fields.
The NV Energy internship program is designed to ensure that it will challenge interns with meaningful work, expose them to a career in the energy industry, and help the transition from academics to the workforce. Participating in the internship program will provide great opportunities to gain experience in community outreach and employee engagement for a major utility Company.
The goal of our internship program is designed to combine the theoretical training and practical experience to ensure that students obtain meaningful work experience. Candidate must be a self-starter, flexible, a quick learner, highly motivated and a good team player. Accordingly, you must possess strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Successful students can build upon their existing skills and explore valuable careers in a variety of areas.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Works under the direction of the Director, Community Relations to plan and execute activities for the department. Day-to-day activities will involve interaction with employees and external partners.
When applying, you must include transcript providing proof of at least 2.75 GPA for consideration.
Specific tasks will include:
- Communicating with employees and community organizations through personal contact, telephone calls, meetings, webinars, and email.
- Supporting and attending Company sponsored events/activities.
- Developing public relations campaigns for company initiatives.
- Maintaining volunteer events calendars and communicating with employees about upcoming volunteer events.
- Maintaining records for community relations programs including contact information of community partners and volunteers.
- Assisting with event coordination, promotion, and planning, including expense tracking and budget management.
- Coordinating and scheduling meetings.
- Preparing written communications, including newsletter articles, social media posts, website listings and more.
- Capturing photos and videos of community relations events to develop social media and internal communications content.
- Completing data entry and reporting as part of community relations data and metrics tracking.
- Conducting corporate citizenship and volunteer related research.
