Job Description Summary:
Under general supervision, the Camp and Program Staff Lead supports Boulder Parks and Recreation in providing safe, fun, and fulfilling summer camp experiences for youth. This position works closely with and is directly supervised by a Program Supervisor to support a growing number of youth in camp settings. Serves as a lead worker and assists in managing day-to-day operations.This is a seasonal position with full-time hours offered during the summer. Throughout the year, there are part time opportunities to support school day-off camps and year-round programs.
Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates teamwork and serves as a lead worker to other staff members.
Coordinates camp groups.
Discusses rules, regulations and accommodations for youth with camp/program staff.
Educates and models group management, leadership, and behavior support for staff.
Creates a positive relationship and good communication with the participants, parents, staff, and program supervisors.
Monitors participants to ensure their safety.
Ensures the safety and guidance of participants and staff in inclusive program environments.
Assesses and makes decisions in emergency situations.
Administers first aid and contacting medical assistance when necessary.
Implements and oversees inclusion support and accommodations for people with disabilities.
Greets participants and parents as they arrive to camps and programs.
Checks in with the families.
Creates a positive relationship with the families and participants.
Addresses any concerns in a solution-focused and positive manner.
Teaches staff how to implement group management, modifications, and accommodations.
Works closely with the staff to ensure all participants are included.
Manages the Day-to-Day operations of Camps & Programs.
Manages daily operations for camps & programs with the support of the program supervisor.
Ensures program quality.
Addresses concerns with staff and supporting them through improvement as needed.
Follows all State Licensing and Boulder County Public Health Policies and Procedures.
Utilizes computer programs to ensure access to all camper paperwork as needed.
Cultivates a fun and playful environment for the participants.
Gets to know each participant to help provide the best support possible.
Creates and implements supports such as picture schedules and token economy systems.
Creates and implements behavior plans and group management.
Assists in equipment management and ensuring proper use of equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ability and willingness to drive participants and staff in vehicles provided by Boulder Parks & Recreation.
Ability and willingness to work as part of a team.
Ability to complete and maintain accurate records and documentation.
Ability to create positive customer service relationships with parents, campers, therapists, program partners, and city staff.
Ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution skills.
Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills.
Ability to demonstrate previous camp or recreation program experience.
Ability to demonstrate tactful and effective communication skills
