Workdays: Monday - Friday (Some evenings or weekends)
Work Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Location: 202 W. French Place, San Antonio, TX, 78212

Summary:


Under the supervision of Reception and Placement Projected Arrival Director, the caseworker is responsible for ensuring that resettlement core services are provided in a planned, effective and timely manner to eligible clients. The caseworker provides these services to meet individual client needs that will contribute to the early employment and self-sufficiency goals.



Position Responsibilities:


  • *Provides client/clients with an appropriate-culturally relevant reception into the community. This is done through linguistically appropriate interpretation ad translation services.
  • *Works with client/clients to strategize an appropriate service plan.
  • *Must be available after traditional office hours for late night airport pick-up of client arrivals and occasional weekend work or events.
  • *Provides direct service support and referrals as needed and works together with other staff members in areas of housing, job training, health and emergency in regard to the client/client's service plan.
  • *Enroll refugees in public assistance programs such as food stamps, cash assistance, registering children in school, Change of Address, SS card etc.
  • Provide Home safety orientation /911 package in client's language within 24 hours of arrival.
  • Prepares daily case file documentation of clients served.
  • Provides related services for Health Screening and Vaccine for the purpose of Green card preparation.
  • Report on activities, meetings, and special client concerns to the program director and other staff during required weekly staff meetings.
  • Communicate concerns regarding client situations or program issues with appropriate staff and come up with a plan of action to address concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:


• Education

• Experience

o Minimum of two to four years' experience in Social Service environment that demonstrates a sensitivity and appreciation for diverse cultural populations


License and Credentials


  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver license
  • Must have clean driving record
  • Valid vehicle insurance
  • Bilingual (Language preference: Pashto, Farsi or Arabic)


Minimum Knowledge and Skills:


  • Minimum Knowledge of State and Federal Contracts and Grants.
  • Extensive working knowledge of Program Manuals and Operational Guidelines.
  • Knowledge of client files documentation and record keeping
  • Skilled in using computer, various software, email and internet.
  • Skilled in organization and time management.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team.
  • Must have good written and verbal skills
  • Must have clean driving record.
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.


Travel Requirements:


Travel requirements for the position includes 50% local and 5% overnight.
