Position Summary
The School-Based Health Center (SBHC) PSR works directly with the SBHC Site Director and Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide acute care, chronic care management, and comprehensive family planning services school students.
Team members are expected uphold the health center mission by assuring that patients receive health care that is competent, caring, and meets with a high degree of satisfaction. In addition, staff must support FPCN's commitment to the creation of a trauma-informed system of care that continually recognizes and responds to the impact of traumatic stress on all those who have contact with the organization, including children, adults, families, caregivers, and staff.

Full-time 40 hours. Willing to consider 32+ hours a week.
Primary Work Site: 4030 Brown St, Philadelphia, PA, 19104. Some telework potential
Proposed hours: 10am -6pm, 5 days a week. Subject to changes, some flexibility possible including a 4-day work week.

Essential Duties and Functions
1. Assist in the courteous and efficient management of connecting students with the appropriate services and/or staff in a timely and accurate manner.
2. Initiate services for patients which involve signing-in, updating basic demographic information, validating health insurance coverage, and preparing necessary paperwork. Additional services may be warranted depending on if the patient’s status is new or established and if the patient seeks more specialized services.
3. Schedule appointments for patients.
4. Coordinate with school to bring students in for their appointments.
5. Constantly update and utilize pertinent information about the health insurance carriers that the Practice accepts.
6. Maintain patient charts.
7. Provide additional clerical tasks: filing, typing, faxing, and copying documents.
8. Facilitate the ordering of office/janitorial/medical supplies for respective site.
9. Maintain patient confidentiality in both written and verbal formats.
10. Possess exemplary knowledge of and enforce all Practice policies and procedures that impact the work of the PSR and front desk.
11. Adhere to OSHA guidelines.
12. Assist in coordinating utilization of the Practice’s transportation services for students needing appointment at one of FPCN’s clinics
13. Indexing of medical records
14. Take primary responsibility for securing the clinic space at the close of the business day
ESSENTIAL DUTIES ADDENDUM
1. Be a member of the multidisciplinary teams consisting of a Nurse Practitioner, Behavioral Health Consultant, School Nurse and/or Health Resource Coordinator.
2. Provide registration and billing support to all SBHC sites including daily PSR report cards
3. Insurance coordination- work with FPCN Outreach & Enrollment Staff to assure patients receives appropriate benefits.
4. Care Coordination (e.g., scheduling appointments, performing appointment reminder activities, conducting follow-up calls for no-shows, troubleshooting non-clinical patient issues).
5. Establish trusting relationships with patients and communicate concerns to appropriate clinical and school staff.
6. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The SBHC program is an evolving one, so the candidate must be willing to be flexible, learn and adapt workflows, and exhibit grace with changes.
· Minimum two (2) year of working in a Health facility, preferably with pediatric patients
· Previous experience with an Electronic Health Record
· High School Diploma/GED
· Strong computer competency with proficiency in word processing
· Ability to travel for meetings and special events
· Current CPR certificate or willingness to obtain one
· Unconditional ability to maintain patient confidentiality and ability to negotiate between HIPAA and FERPA laws
· Desire to work with children and adolescents
· Comfortability discussing sexual health topics
· Exemplary skill at managing multiple tasks simultaneously
· High level of patience, courtesy, and concentration
· Outstanding interpersonal skills
· Outstanding verbal and written communication skills as well as listening skills
· Exemplary organizational skills and ability to prioritize
· Highly reliable and dependable
· Experience in effectively relating to people
· Ability to effectively relate via telephone
