Communications AssistantPay Details:
The starting hourly rate for this position is $22.00 per hour.The Communications Assistant assists the Communications Department with day-to-day and game-night responsibilities, including media relations, broadcasting and press box operations. This position is required to work all San Diego Gulls home games.
Responsibilities
Produce and distribute media credentials for events and game days
Disseminate media updates and press materials throughout game nights
Collect and transcribe postgame audio and video files for internal use and distribution
Collaborate with internal departments to provide public relations and communications support for marketing, community relations, ticketing, and sales initiatives
Assist with statistical record keeping and the organization of departmental files and archives
Write feature articles for publication on the team website and in gameday programs
Set up and break down media areas, including media will call, press box, and media workroom
Provide in-office assistance for day-to-day operations and team support, as needed
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Skills
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field preferred; candidates currently completing their degree will also be considered
Minimum of 1 year of experience in an office or professional environment preferred
Familiarity with AP Style writing standards
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred, particularly InDesign
Understanding of the sports marketplace and entertainment industry
Solid knowledge of the sport of hockey
Exceptional written communication skills with a strong attention to detail
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Flexibility for in-office hours, as needed, to support team needs and maintain an on-site presence
Able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience Required - 0-1 Year
