We are looking for motivated college students to join our highly-skilled team of engineers for an exciting summer internship in Mount Vernon, Indiana. This opportunity is specifically for a machine shop support engineering intern. 

 

At BWXT, our interns perform challenging tasks in their field of study while developing and delivering unique engineering solutions for use in a nuclear environment. Our interns work collaboratively as part of our Engineering and Operations teams and will create/update drawings and procedures, assist with NC programming improvement initiatives, interact regularly with machinists to gain feedback on improvements, assist with improvements in our tooling prep and selection, and support other needs aiding the machine shop.  A BWXT internship not only provides valuable on the job training but allows you to be a part of something bigger!

 

BWXT offers paid internships along with a housing stipend for those interns whose home of record is more than 50 miles from Mount Vernon.  Internships will last approximately 10-12 weeks. At the end of the internship, each intern has the opportunity to present their completed work/ assigned projects to the team. 

 

Successful candidates must be currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology program.  Additionally:

  • Students must be at a sophomore standing or above at the time the internship begins.
  • Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
  • US citizenship with no dual citizenship is required for this position.

 

Preference will be given to students who have also completed coursework in Statistics, Mechanics of Materials, and/or Solid Modeling.  

 

 

 

 

 Pay: $21.50 - $24.00

 

The starting hourly rate for this position in Indiana (US-IN)  at the start of employment is expected to be between $21.50  and $24.00  per hour.  The hourly rate offered is based on local job market factors and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify the hourly rate (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation, or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or applicable department/team performance, and other market factors.
