Pay Range
$144,900 - $318,216 Annually
$144,900 - $265,188 Annually for the SEL.4 level
$173,904 - $318,216 Annually for the SEL.5 level

Job Description
We have an opening for an Engineering Modeling and Simulation (EMS) Section Leader. EMS consists of eight groups with an array of scientific and engineering skills sharing a common focus on using computational tools and resources to conceptualize, construct, compute, and interpret models of complex systems. These models can encompass single- or multi-physics phenomenon, often in a highly nonlinear regime. The members of EMS act as technical experts contributing to most Laboratory programs and frequently participate in Strategic Partnership Projects with external sponsors. Our experts often contribute to multi-disciplinary teams, interacting with experimentalists and project engineers to deliver solutions to their customers.
Pay Range
$144,900 - $318,216 Annually
$144,900 - $265,188 Annually for the SEL.4 level
$173,904 - $318,216 Annually for the SEL.5 level

This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.
You will
- Provide technical and operational leadership, supervision, mentoring and technical guidance to effectively develop and manage a diverse and inclusive team of group leaders, technical staff and project leaders. Responsible for high-level goal setting, strategic planning, and capability development to ensure project/program goals and objectives are accomplished.
- Lead, carry out, participate in, and/or coordinate recruiting, hiring, training, career development, and performance management activities as needed to meet programmatic staffing, employee development, and performance related and salary management needs, including providing career counseling, mentoring, and technical guidance.
- Provide technical and/or programmatic management solutions, including determining and pursuing courses of action essential to obtaining desired outcomes, to highly unusual, complex, and/or sensitive issues where the solution path is not known ahead of time.
- Manage many parallel tasks requiring the resolution of conflicting work requirements and the prioritization of tasks to meet pre-determined targets.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with corresponding program leaders to assist in the achievement of program goals.
- Participate as a core member of the CED senior leadership team, influence strategic technical decisions and contribute to long-term goals and objectives for the continued development and improvement of the division. Serve as the primary contact between CED senior leadership and the section members, ensuring projects’ status, risks, and issues are communicated in an effective and timely manner.
- Monitor, influence, and/or implement technical advancements to strengthen and expand Section capabilities and applications in its core technology areas,
