About The Job

AT&T is seeking a highly skilled, enthusiastic, and adaptable software engineer to join our dynamic and fast-paced team in Dallas.  The ideal candidate should possess a strong technical foundation and a passion for learning and innovation. In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront, supporting enterprise systems that are foundational to our Consumer and Business segments.  Our team manages the architecture, design, delivery, and operational support for these critical systems.

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will serve as a key technical expert with deep knowledge across various domains and channels. Your role will involve diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving issues swiftly and effectively to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction. Strong coding skills and critical problem-solving abilities are essential to excel in this position.

You will collaborate with stakeholders from diverse parts of the company, driving key initiatives that often require quickly learning new business domains. Additionally, you will analyze and make strategic technology recommendations to enhance the resilience, security, and cost-efficiency of our applications.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

-Proficiency in at least two programming languages is required, Java being one of them

-Ability and experience working with databases, including one RDBMS and one NoSQL database.  Experience with Oracle and Cassandra are preferred.

-Connectivity is core to everything we do, requiring a solid understanding of servers, hosting, DNS, and DHCP

-We often work with virtual machines and cloud technologies.  Experience with Azure is required.

-Collaborate to gather and review software requirements/user stories, provide time and cost estimates, create software design specifications and collaborate with engineers/architects to assess and test hardware and software interactions.

-Serve as a subject matter expert and provide technical guidance to the team.

-Diagnose and resolve software defects and issues promptly.

-Analyze and recommend improvements to enhance application security, resiliency, reduce vulnerabilities, and reduce cost structures, including cloud optimization.

-Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.

-Support compliance and audit activities

Experience:

-Requires eight (8) or more years of experience with the design, implementation, and testing of software using Java.

-Experience working within a highly technical software development team

-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with both technical and non-technical partners, clients, stakeholders, and users.

-Experience mentoring and knowledge sharing with new team members desired.

-Proficient in project management as well as Agile and waterfall methodologies.

-Experience working in Azure, including serverless architecture.

-Proficient with Oracle and Cassandra databases.

-A working knowledge of servers, hosting, and network stacks.

-Experience with supporting compliance activities and audits desired.

Education:

Preferred Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Science, Electrical Engineering, or Math; Developer nanodegree; or equivalent experience.
