Job Description
Global Facilities Engineering Intern Overview
Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie Interns.
This internship role will consist of an overall design experience. We are a group of architects, mechanical and electrical engineers, BMS controls designers and programmers that design projects to support various facilities in our portfolio. Examples include laboratories, offices, site infrastructure and vivarium / specialty spaces.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Plans and conduct small to medium size projects with design specialty requiring conventional types of plans, investigations and equipment.
- Coordinates and monitors design activities and reports progress to upper management.
- Leads design discussions for planning purposes.
- Gain knowledge of overall industry & AbbVie specifications / standards.
- Gain knowledge of various building components such as HVAC equipment, electrical distribution systems, building materials, etc.
- Create project estimates for front end planning and budget purposes.
- Present to the staff leaders, managers and mentors the achievements of the assigned projects as well as the main experiences gained during the program.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a BA/BS in architecture or mechanical, electrical, BMS controls engineering.
- Expected graduation date between December 2026 – June 2027
