Moog Military Aircraft Group has an immediate opening for an Associate Maintenance Technician on 1st shift to assist in the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of equipment (Facilities Dept.), typically under the guidance of a more experienced technician. You will perform tasks like inspecting, cleaning, lubricating, and repairing equipment, as well as assisting with larger projects, within WWT, Heat Treat, Plating, and HVAC.

Associate Maintenance Technician is a driven individual that possesses a basic skillset and is focused on getting more formal training through schooling. Reporting to our facility management, you will have an on-site work schedule at our aerospace plant in Torrance, California.

Work schedule:

  • The first 6-8 months = Mondays - Fridays from 6:00am-2:30pm

  • After 6-8 months = Sundays - Thursdays from 6:00am-2:30pm

Here's what you’ll be working on day-to-day:

  • Inspecting and Diagnosing: This role will be assisting in checking equipment for performance issues and identifying potential problems. 

  • Cleaning and Lubrication: Maintaining and confirming Facilities’ equipment is in good working order through regular cleaning and lubrication. 

  • Basic Repairs: Performing routine repairs and adjustments, such as replacing parts, diagnosing, and fixing minor malfunctions. 

  • Assisting with Larger Projects: Providing support for more complex repairs and installations, such as dismantling and moving machinery. 

  • Following Instructions: Adhering to safety procedures and guidelines provided by supervisors or experienced technicians. 

  • Maintaining Records: Logging accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs in CMMS software.

At a minimum, you’ll need to meet these qualifications: 

  • A high school diploma or GED preferred. Otherwise, demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English, and demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

  • 2 years or more of experience as a Maintenance Technician

  • HVAC (pumps and plumbing) plating, wastewater treatment, heat treatment, facility, processing, electrical

  • Hands-on Mechanical experience

  • Blueprint reading

Preferred Qualifications Include: 

  • Education: Preferred Associate’s degree, apprenticeship certified

  • Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of various equipment and systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc. 

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and troubleshoot equipment issues. Read wiring diagram and P&ID

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry objects (up to 30lbs) for extended periods, move (40lb) intermittently. 

  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members. 

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks. Working knowledge of Office, Outlook, and Word. Properly use and log information in CMMS software.

  • Safety Awareness: Understanding and adherence to safety procedures and regulations.
