Summary
The Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for sustaining, troubleshooting, and continuously improving semiconductor manufacturing equipment to support safe, reliable, and high-quality production. This role performs preventative and corrective maintenance, diagnoses and resolves equipment issues using mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, and partners closely with Customer Engineers and customer personnel to maximize tool performance and availability. The Equipment Maintenance Technician also manages spare parts inventory and preventative maintenance planning to ensure critical materials and resources are available to support operational objectives.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, equipment recoveries, documentation updates, and long-term down (LTD) tool recovery activities.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and vacuum system issues to minimize equipment downtime.
- Utilize schematics, diagnostic tools, and data analysis to identify root causes of recurring equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions.
- Execute maintenance activities in accordance with established procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate and detailed maintenance documentation, equipment records, and shift pass-down communications.
- Communicate equipment status, performance issues, and recovery plans to Customer Engineers, management, and customer stakeholders.
- Support spare parts management, inventory control, and preventative maintenance planning to ensure readiness for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, performance, uptime, and maintenance effectiveness.
- Mentor and train team members on best-known methods, troubleshooting techniques, workmanship standards, and safety expectations.
- Maintain compliance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements, including LOTO, PPE, hazardous material handling, and audit readiness.
- Contribute positively to Applied Materials' safety-first culture through active participation in safety programs and continuous improvement efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with working knowledge of AC/DC circuits, electronics, pneumatics, and electro-mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and maintenance procedures.
- Experience using diagnostic tools such as digital multimeters (DMMs), oscilloscopes, and other test equipment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to document work accurately and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work a 12-hour shift schedule, stand for extended periods, climb ladders as required, and lift up to 20 pounds.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and effectively collaborate within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Electronics, Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or related technical field; military technical training; or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience maintaining, repairing, or troubleshooting semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
