Part-Time/On-Call Software Engineer

Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a part-time/on-call (hourly) Software Engineer to develop TT&C and Satellite Mission Management and Scheduling software in support of our mission critical customers and the OS/COMET COTS software product.
(This will be an hourly paid role for each hour worked)
Responsibilities:
Research, design, and development of computer software systems, including requirement analysis, design, development, and test of software products. Requires the application of the principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Analyzes software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects and ability to handle routine tasks. Solves problems of moderate-to-advanced scope/complexity. Demonstrates a strong grasp of debugging skills.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
- Experience with:
- Designing and developing software for satellite ground systems or TT&C applications
- The OS/COMET COTS software product or similar TT&C products
- Integration of OS/COMET applications for operationalization and deployment of complex ground systems
- Varius languages and frameworks such as C, Java, Angular, Spring Boot, etc
- Software development methodologies and life-cycles; specifications, design, implementation and testing.
- Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, FishEye/Crucible, BitBucket, etc.)
- Experience with Linux, preferably RHEL
- CI/CD practices and DevSecOps culture
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance. To obtain a security clearance, you must be a US Citizen
Preferred Qualifications
- Active/Current Security Clearance
- Previous support of NOAA missions such as GOES, SWFO, or JPSS
- Experience developing Application Specific Inputs (ASI) or Application Specific Outputs (ASO) for OS/COMET based ground systems
- Familiarity with OS/COMET tools and experience developing applications with those tools
- In-depth understanding of the OS/COMET CCL scripting language
- Experience mentoring junior engineers

Target Salary Range
$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.Apply for this role
