Job Summary

 

We are seeking a Corporate Vice President of Leader Communications to join our team.

 

Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer, the Corporate Vice President of Leader Communications will be a key partner for Human Resources (HR) in the Corporate Communications team, specifically responsible for developing and executing our new Leader Communications program.

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver the process and tools to create and sustain a leader, two-way communications program – in support of employee engagement and a high-performance culture.
  • Manage a consistent program for leaders so that they can customize strategic messaging to make it relevant for their respective teams and provide a line of sight connecting employees with the organization’s vision and strategy.
  • Create and execute an employee business literacy program to improve employee understanding of New York Life’s overall value proposition.
  • Contribute to an internal communication program that ensures a common understanding of strategic business direction – and drives employee engagement – via messaging, practices, and processes.
  • Construct and maintain internal communications strategic plan calendar.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and communications counselor to HR partners and leaders.
  • Ensure a consistent tone and voice for internal communications, balancing cultural sensitivities.
  • Manage internal and external resources, including writers and graphic designers to develop brand-consistent communication materials. 
  • Plan and conduct formal and informal employee and management surveys to guide development of future activities – analyze employee usage and user feedback.  Remain informed on industry best practices.  Proactively provide process improvement suggestions.
  • Measure the effectiveness of communication efforts using focus groups, surveys, and other feedback mechanisms that enable the development of data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • As a member of the Corporate Communications team, share best practices and work across the organization to help create a cohesive leader and employee communication experience.
  • Support the HR organization’s employment value proposition objectives and initiatives.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years experience managing internal communications.
  • Exceptional track record of developing and implementing successful communication strategies.
  • Expert client relationship manager, with experience providing advice to senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership, achievement, and excellence in a world-class organization.
  • Collaborative team player with successful experience leading cross-functional teams and projects.
  • Ability to navigate a complex organization and operate within ambiguity a must.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience levergaing technology in support of internal communications.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent writing, listening, presentation and communications skills. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism or related field.
  • Background in HR communications/HR strategy highly desirable.

 

 

 

Salary range: $145,000-$215,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No
