The Specialty Sales Account Manager will represent LyondellBasell at Customers in assigned applications, focusing primarily on Wire and Cable specialty polymer products. The Account Manager will be responsible for planning and directing Sales activities at both established and prospective accounts. The position will work from an office in their home residence. Initial training may occur in Houston, TX and at our Technology Center in Cincinnati, OH. Success in this role will provide opportunities for increased account responsibilities in North America and potential for further advancement within LyondellBasell. This position reports to the Sales Manager, Specialty Resins and Performance Polymers.
A Day in the Life
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Promotes and sells Company Wire and Cable products, by interacting with established and new prospective customers, their Purchasing Organizations and Senior Management.
- Forecasts and tracks key account metrics (e.g., monthly sales results and annual forecasts.) Negotiates and administers Sales Contracts under the guidance and direction of Sales Management, Commercial Managers, Industry Marketing Managers and Legal for the Sale of Polyolefin Products.
- Establishes lasting relationships with appropriate customer contacts (up and across customer organizations) and manages these relationships through regular personal visits, phone contact, written correspondence, virtual video interface, entertainment, and engagement at industry events.
- Collaborates and coordinates Sales activities with internal teams, such as Commercial, Technical, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Operations Planning, Inventory Planning, Pricing, Manufacturing, and other functional areas. Gathers sufficient information to make strong commercial recommendations and decisions.
- Develops and executes a sales strategy, including Account Plans with clear objectives, tangible value targets, and timelines to capture the benefits and plans/activities in-line with strategic business goals. Driving the execution of the strategy will require effective management of multiple influencing parties, making recommendations and offering creative solutions. A key attribute of this position will involve influencing stakeholders, both the external customer and internal Commercial and Technical organizations.
- Prepares pre-call plans for customer visits, including the preparation of an agenda, selection of appropriate participants, slide presentations or other product/technical support materials needed to support the call objectives and goals.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the use of business software, including, but not limited to, SAP, IBP, TEAMS, Power BI Dashboards, Microsoft Office, and SalesForce.com, to provide customer forecasts, input/adjust pricing, monitor territory volume performance, and participate in order management.
- Consistently meets commitments, ensures accountability, sets goals, drives results, and places a focus on maximizing contribution margin expectations while managing overall performance consistent with company sales metrics.
- Clearly communicates the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
You Bring This Value
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree is required, ideally in Sciences, Engineering, Marketing, or Business Management. However, candidates with typically 10+ years of relevant sales experience in the polymers industry may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Typically 3+ years’ experience in a business-to-business oriented customer-facing role, such as technical service, customer service, sales or procurement. Experience in the Polyolefins industry preferred; Polymers or Petrochemicals experience preferred.
- Must be willing to work and travel early/after-hours as needed to complete position requirements.
- Business Travel expected is ~35%.
