We are looking for a QA Engineer to join our automation team in building out our automated tests suites. The surfaces we cover range from the iOS and Android NYT App to internal publisher and storytelling tools. You will work closely with our automation engineers, developers, product and design team members to successfully ship stable products that delight our users. You will report to the Senior QA Manager.
Responsibilities:
- You will automate functional, integration, and regression tests with Selenium, WebDriver, Applitools, and Appium.
- You will contribute to the modification, development, implementation, and maintenance of test automation frameworks.
- You will work on test automation, test environment setup/teardown, defect logging and verification.
- Where necessary, you will develop and execute manual test cases to detect issues that cannot be detected through automated means.
- You will create clear and concise test plans, estimate work, and monitor progress against milestones.
- You will provide guidance to other QA engineers.
Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of quality assurance engineering experience.
- Proficiency with Python, Javascript, or Typescript.
- Worked with at least one automated test framework like Selenium, Appium, WebDriverIO, or Playwright.
- Experience testing Web and mobile apps, including preparing, documenting, and executing test criteria, test cases, test scripts, and test plans.
- Knowledge with CI/CD frameworks to integrate quality automation into our build and release pipelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience influencing and driving software engineering best practices.
- Familiarity assisting with triage, diagnosis, and resolution of issues discovered across teams.
- Familiarity writing codes that establishes and enhances frameworks.
- Experience reviewing code for the design, testability and clear usability.
This role may require limited on-call hours. An on-call schedule will be determined when you join, taking into account team size and other variables.
