About the role

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

The Front-end Quality Manufacturing Risk Management Systems Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc. is responsible for applying quality methodologies to create and enhance data infrastructure, reporting tools, and systems. This position also involves identifying ways to integrate AI into system development and existing systems. A solid understanding of process risk management—especially Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) and its relevance for system users—is essential.

The engineer collaborates with site quality leaders and manufacturing teams to sustain and improve process and product quality systems and data infrastructure within Micron's Fab operations. Key duties include leading projects aimed at building data infrastructure and systems that allow all Micron manufacturing Fabs to achieve their risk identification and mitigation objectives. The primary aim is to advance and maintain global data infrastructure and systems so that global Fab teams meet and surpass risk process management standards. Additionally, these systems should promote alignment across all manufacturing Fab sites and be designed for global implementation.

Some travel to Fab manufacturing locations may be expected, including occasional domestic and international trips each year.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects aimed at developing and maintaining tools and systems that assist Quality and Process teams in minimizing process variation.
  • Contribute to the development and alignment of the Front-End Quality vision with system creation and AI capability initiatives. Find opportunities to integrate AI within system development or enhance existing systems utilizing tools.
  • Collaborate with Fabs and multi-functional partners to define, implement, and sustain systems with well-established ownership and governance structures.
  • Develop and standardize key performance indicators and evaluation methodologies, ensuring standard processes for system use are disseminated across all sites.
  • Monitor project progress relative to area goals and timelines, call out critical risks, and obtain necessary support when required. Review, track, and consistently communicate project requirements, status updates, and risks to relevant team members, including preparing and delivering project updates, proposals, and performance summaries.
  • Facilitate system deployment activities, including the creation of training materials and verification of compliance.
  • Serve as a technical domain authority for quality systems and system continuous improvement initiatives. Proactively address critical system issues and communicate status to appropriate audiences.
  • Cultivate accountability by ensuring clear communication, actionable feedback, effective project management, and robust metric tracking.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable about internal quality systems, IATF 16949, AIAG, AIAG/VDA, and Micron Quality Manual requirements.
  • As a project leader, this role requires clear communication with leadership and team members to ensure ongoing support worldwide.
  • A foundational knowledge of FMEA partner risk analysis, control validation procedures, and systems like MVC (equipment risk), Mixed Run (product flow risk), QRC (product risk), and Central Control Plan (process control validation) will be necessary for spotting gaps between systems and finding improvement opportunities.
  • Proficient in one or more scripting, programming and visualization tools: Python, Tableau, Power BI or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced problem-solver – understanding of data, good data intuition and data visualization skills

  • Experience or knowledge of data collection, warehousing systems, and data cleansing

  • Hands-on experience in the field of data analytics, preferably with experience querying databases
