Clermont Open Cut is currently seeking a Senior Geologist to join our high performing Technical Services department onsite. Located on the western edge of the Bowen Basin, Clermont Open Cut is a high performing truck & shovel operation that produces 12 million tonnes of coal per annum. Clermont Open Cut Operation is a safe, dynamic, and inclusive workplace focused on delivering high performance outcomes. Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, this role will offer variety and opportunity to the right individual.

In this role you will be responsible for:

• Providing geological technical support to the Technical Services team and operational departments

• Optimising the resource recovery through best practice coal mining

• High quality short term geological models for drill and blast

• Supporting pit coal quality and recovery

• Supporting visible leadership that contributes to a safe workplace

• Driving continuous improvement opportunities through innovation and collaboration

Requirements of the role include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology

• Minimum 5+ years geological experience within open cut mining industry

• Vulcan (preferable) or similar Mining CAD Software

• AcQuire Database, completing validation and re-correlation work.

• Geological modelling experience in completing resource model updates

• Project management for exploration drill program, and contractor management requirements

• Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite

• Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive relationships, with a passion for team growth and development

• Ability to work autonomously and manage conflicting priorities

• Ability to develop strong relationships with various internal and external stakeholders

• S123 & G2 competencies (desirable)

• QLD Drivers Licence

This role requires a safety conscious candidate prepared to challenge the norm, drive continuous improvement and who can demonstrate experience in implementing best practise using a hands-on approach.
